Dr. Chuan Wang
Dr. Chuan Wang is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan State University. Dr. Wang joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty in 2013.
Dr. Wang’s research interest focuses on low-cost and scalable printing processes for microfabrication of flexible and stretchable electronics for displaying, sensing, and energy-harvesting applications. His work investigates the essential materials design and scalable microfabrication processes that could lead to high-performance flexible transistors, integrated circuits, sensors and optoelectronic devices. Such devices could be integrated onto an ultra-thin plastic or elastic substrate and adapt to curved surfaces, which could enable a wide range of applications such as wearable electronics or stretchable displays. He is also developing a printing process for high-speed, low-cost, and large-area fabrication of flexible electronics without the need for conventional, costly microfabrication tools used in the semiconductor industry.
Dr. Wang received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Peking University in China and went on to get his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California. After receiving his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral scholar for two years at the University of California, Berkeley, before joining MSU in 2013.
